The Ski Amade, things to do if you’re not a skier and current conditions …

Welcome back to the Haus blog. Since the entertainment of last week, (it was UK half term!) this week has so far been a little more relaxed.  Things are certainly much quieter around the village, with only parts of Holland having half term week, there are lots of our dutch friends out and about in the ski areas.

Ski Amade

So having had a little more time, the Haus decided to take a quick tour around some of the Ski Amade resorts which are all included in your Ski Amade ski pass whether you are here for a week or the whole season. For those of you who don’t know the Ski Amade, it is a collection of 5 resorts, including : the Hochkönig, Schladming Dachstein, Grossarltal, Gastein and the Salzburg Sportwelt. Together this equates to 25 villages, 270 lifts and 760 pistes, 90% of which have snow making (not to be sniffed at for the start of this season!)

What this allows you to do (should you have a car or access to transport) is get a real feel for skiing through the heart of some of Austria’s best ski areas whilst not taking the same lift or piste (if you plan your day well!). Here at the Haus we can recommend where to head, which pistes hold the snow well and where to party the night away .. all you need to do is ask! Check out … www.skiamade.com for more info …

Not a skier?

Not a skier? Ski holidays for non skiers sometimes are not that great. You spend a lot of time doing very little and generally getting frustrated.  Here in Mühlbach and across Salzburgerland we like to challenge this way of thinking. So what’s on offer? Winter walks with or without snow shoes, city day trips to Salzburg, days out realxing at the spa in Altenmarkt, enjoying a lunch up on the mountain at the Steinbokalm (yep, you can take the lift even if you don’t ski!) or even a bit of reading and relaxing here at Haus Wasserbauer, it’s all possible …

Conditions

Ok, onto current conditions. Its been spring like weather this week with some great skiing at altitude. The pistes are generally in great condition with things getting a little cut up by the end of the day. We are 100% open and there is great skiing on offer across the region.  The forecast is a bit all over the place at the moment and is changing on daily basis, temperatures are predicted to fall over the next few days with some snow forecast for tomorrow (fingers crossed it delivers).

That’s all from the Haus at the moment, we hope you enjoy the read and looking forward to updating you on more news next week!

All the best, Duncan and Vikki

Ps. We still have some availability for Apartment Maier and Apartment Bradl for Easter. Drop us a line on info@hauswasserbauer.com and we will send you a special rate offer!
