Here at the Haus it has been a cool few days. It has been snowing a lot and now the sun has come out to play … we have had fasching (kind of an mardi gras type party thing on pancake day in the UK), some great rodel action (tobogganing in English) and we have eaten out at one of our favourite places, the Pauss where the spare ribs are just out of this world.
So to kick things off, we will give you a quick run through on current conditions here in the Hochkönig. We have had decent snowfall over the last week, which has improved the pistes no end and has meant some good days making first tracks. We are 100% open, the park has more obsticels added nearly on a daily basis and the off-piste is holding up well, with some terrain not yet tracked out you get can that “first line of the day feeling”. The forecast is holding out well with the sunshine due to be out until at least the weekend, with hopefully more snow coming on Tuesday / Wednesday, we will keep you posted.
The 80’s revolution.
On to our 80″s revolution here in Mühlbach. For Fasching (Tuesday) there was an 80’s party in the Mesnerhaus, with 80’s costumes, of course 80’s music, 80’s prices behind the bar and 80’s chat all around. It was a great night, the Haus would like to thank Robi, Helga and the team for one crazy night (although the day after was not so much fun!). The photos below don’t really do it justice … but you will get the jist.
Ribs and Rodelling.
On to eating here in Mühlbach am Hochkönig. Just up the road from the Haus (about a 40 minute walk or 10 minute taxi journey) is the PaussBauer. It’s a traditional Austrian restaurant where the food is excellent, the service is great, it does not cost the earth and the best thing is you can toboggan your way home … it’s just like been a kid again! If you pre-order you can get some of the best spare ribs you will have ever eaten served with knödels, roast potatoes, gravy and salad. Its yum, yum, yum and well worth pre-ordering when you book. The Haus’s last rodel outing involved team David, who attacked the course with relish, both taking the turns as if the rodels were on rails … we await your revisit in March for more of the same.
The week in summary.
In summary it has been a great week here at the Haus, with friends staying, great conditions all round, lots of laughs and just a little bit of partying. We are now roughly half way through the winter season and after a slow start, it’s rock and roll.
Don’t forget we are now taking bookings for summer 2016 (why not come and try and the alps in summer, it’s a great holiday experience) and winter 2016 / 2017.
