Haus Wasserbauer is located at the foot of the Salzburgerland Austrian Alps in the traditional village of Mühlbach am Hochkönig, just 40 minutes from Salzburg, so finding us is straight forward.  From the UK and mainland Europe there are several ways to reach us, allowing you to decide the pace and type of journey you take. Above (via Google Maps) you can take a look at where the Haus is located in relation to the all important ski lifts, neighbouring villages, Salzburg and Münich airports and the many attractions located close to Haus Wasserbauer.

Driving from the UK.

Driving to Austria from the UK, is not as complicated as it might sound. With numerous options available to cross the channel and well established transport links across the major cities of Europe, travelling by car, might just be the surprise package you are looking for.  Once you have arrived in mainland Europe, there are two main routes to reach Haus Wasserbauer.

The first is into Belgium and through mainland Germany, approaching Austria via Munich (details can be found below). The second takes you through France and then into Germany, again approaching Haus Wasserbauer, via Munich. The total travel time can be as little as 12/14 hours (from Calais) with careful driving, giving you the opportunity to see more of the continent and experience some of Europe at its best. If you require recommendations for hotel stops on the way, please just ask.

Car|Salzburg & Munich.

Take the A10 Autobahn then follow the signs to Bischofshofen (B311). Before you reach the town centre you will pass signs welcoming you to the Hochkönig Region. Then follow signs for Mühlbach am Hochkönig (the road is a classic mountain pass with many switchbacks so care is needed in winter). After 10/15 (minutes ) approx. 9.7km from Bischofshofen you will enter the village.  Once you have entered the village , take the small road on the right hand side approximately 50m before Café Bauer and next to Sport Hochkönig (a ski hire shop in winter).

Haus Wasserbauer is located on the right hand side of this road after 150m (you will see a sign with the Haus logo on). Ample parking is available to the left hand side of the Haus by a stone wall.

Car|Innsbruck.

Take the Loferer Road (B179), followed by the Hochkönig (B164) direction Saalfelden and Maria Alm. Then head in the direction of Dienten to Mühlbach. In winter you will need to check road conditions before you travel. You will enter the village by the bottom station for the telecabine. Stay on this road, until you see the Spar supermarket on your right hand side. 100m on the left (by Sport Hochkönig) is the road to Haus Wasserbauer.
